Wallingford Children's Choir

The Wallingford Children’s Choir, directed by Sue Ledger, was founded by Sue in 1999 with the aim of making singing fun for as many children as possible. She is aided by her excellent and highly experienced team of chaperones. There are currently 70 children aged from 7 to 13 years of age. In addition, senior pupils stay on in the choir to assist with the younger singers. The choir meets at 4:30pm on Thursdays at St. John's School Wallingford (see map) during term time.

We perform concerts at the end of each term and also take part in many Civic Services in Wallingford. The choir welcomes new members (usually in September). There are no auditions and all you need is enthusiasm and a love of singing. We have children from over 14 local schools, so it is also a lovely chance to make new friends with others who love to sing.

If you are interested in joining the choir (or indeed any of Sue’s choirs), please e-mail her on sue@drsue.org.uk .

Chamber Choir

The Wallingford Chamber Choir is a smaller auditioned group drawn from the main choir. It aims to give the singers more experience of performing in a smaller group, where the individual responsibility is greater. Much of the music is in parts and more challenging, but still fun! As the group is smaller it is also easier to take them away on tours. We have been to Sweden and the Isle of Wight. In 2010 we are off to the Peak District. These trips are a wonderful experience for the singers and chaperones, both musically and socially, and they really bond the group together.

Parking at St. John's is available in the school playground. To reach this from St. John's Road, turn in to Brookmead Drive bearing round to the left, then take the second left turn into Wormald Road and then left into Trenchard Close and carry on through the school gates.
