Wallingford Singers

The Wallingford Singers, directed by Sue Ledger, was formed by Sue in 2002 with a view to performing lighter repertoire than your usual Choral Society, and encouraging more adults and older teenagers to take up singing for fun. Membership hovers at around 80 and we have tremendous fun at our Thursday evening rehearsals .

Many of the original members are still going strong and we have been pleased to welcome many new singers to build on the 30 brave folk who turned up that first day back in January 2002! Over the years the choir has raised many thousands of pounds for charity, through concerts at local venues. We have made large donations to CLIC (cancer and leukaemia in childhood), Home-start Southern Oxfordshire (supporting local families), and part funding a vehicle for a charitable institution in Sri Lanka. We hope to be able to continue this important aspect of our singing.

We meet to practise on a Thursday night at St. John's School Wallingford (see map). Practices start at 8pm and go on to 9:30pm (roughly) with a break half way through for refreshment and chat. If you are interested in coming along and joining in, please e-mail her at sue@drsue.org.uk .

Parking at St. John's is available in the school playground. To reach this from St. John's Road, turn in to Brookmead Drive bearing round to the left, then take the second left turn into Wormald Road and then left into Trenchard Close and carry on through the school gates.

We are usually there most weeks during School term time but to be sure, consult the calendar opposite:
